SKU:
KD-EG4LFRF

The Kidde Genesis LED EG4LFRF is a low frequency wall mount horn that produces the 520 Hz square wave tone required by NFPA 72 for sleeping area notification. It runs on regulated 12 or 24 VDC (or FWR), draws minimal current on the NAC circuit, and synchronizes with other Genesis devices on the same loop without an external sync module when paired with a compatible FACP.

Built for the commercial installer

The Genesis LED EG4 form factor mounts directly to a standard 4-inch square electrical box, single-gang box, or Kidde surface mount box. Red housing with FIRE marking meets AHJ expectations for fire alarm notification appliances in commercial occupancies. UL 464 and ULC-S525 listed for both U.S. and Canadian installations.

Key features

  • 520 Hz low frequency tone: meets NFPA 72 Chapter 18 requirements for sleeping area notification in hotels, dormitories, and assisted living facilities
  • Low current draw: puts more devices on each NAC circuit, reducing panel and power supply requirements
  • Field-selectable high/low dBA output: adjust sound level to match the space without swapping hardware
  • Genesis synchronization: temporal pattern sync across all Genesis devices on the circuit without an external sync module on compatible FACPs
  • Standard box mounting: fits 4-inch square, single-gang, or Kidde surface mount boxes
  • UL 464 and ULC-S525 listed: approved for U.S. and Canadian fire alarm installations

System requirements

Connects to any fire alarm control panel NAC circuit providing regulated 12 or 24 VDC or FWR output. For synchronized operation across multiple notification appliances, use a Genesis-compatible FACP NAC output or add an external synchronization module. Indoor use only.

Does this horn meet NFPA 72 requirements for sleeping areas?
Yes. The EG4LFRF produces a 520 Hz low frequency square wave tone that meets NFPA 72 Chapter 18 requirements for audible notification in sleeping areas, including hotels, dormitories, college housing, and assisted living facilities.
What electrical boxes does this mount to?
Standard 4-inch square electrical boxes, single-gang boxes, or Kidde surface mount gang boxes. No adapter plates or special brackets needed.
Can I mix this with other Genesis notification devices on the same NAC circuit?
Yes. The EG4LFRF synchronizes with other Genesis LED horns, strobes, horn-strobes, and speakers on the same circuit. Use a Genesis-compatible FACP NAC output or add an external synchronization module for temporal pattern sync.
Does this work with my existing fire alarm control panel?
It connects to any FACP NAC circuit that provides regulated 12 or 24 VDC or FWR output. For synchronized temporal pattern operation, the FACP must have Genesis-compatible NAC outputs or you can add an external sync module.
What is the difference between FIRE and ALERT markings?
FIRE marking (this model) is required on notification appliances used in fire alarm systems. ALERT marking is used in mass notification or non-fire applications. The AHJ determines which marking is required for your installation.
