LM-SML-28GPA

The SML-28GPA is a 24-port PoE++ cloud-managed gigabit switch built for high-density security deployments. With a 375W total PoE budget, integrated LumiPoE long-distance transmission, and cloud management through LumiCloud, it gives installers the reach and control needed to run large IP camera and access control systems off a single managed switch.

Built for the commercial installer

Ports 1-2 deliver up to 90W each (PoE++), handling high-draw PTZ cameras and multi-sensor units. Ports 3-24 supply up to 30W (PoE+) for standard fixed cameras and readers. LumiPoE extends PoE signal up to 820 ft (250 m) at 10 Mbps on CAT5e/CAT6 -- useful on large sites where runs from the IDF to the camera exceed standard limits. The built-in PoE Watchdog continuously monitors connected devices and automatically reboots unresponsive cameras without manual intervention. NDAA compliant and FCC certified.

Key features

  • 375W total PoE budget: powers 24 IP cameras, access control readers, and intercoms from one switch
  • Ports 1-2 at 90W PoE++: handles high-draw PTZ heads, multi-sensor cameras, and pan-tilt units
  • LumiPoE extends signal to 820 ft (250 m): eliminates IDF closets on long perimeter runs
  • PoE Watchdog: automatically detects and reboots unresponsive cameras -- no truck roll needed
  • 4 uplink ports (2 SFP + 2 RJ-45): flexible fiber or copper uplinks to core switches, NVRs, or routers
  • Layer 2 cloud and web management via LumiCloud: remote VLAN config, port monitoring, and PoE control from anywhere
  • NDAA compliant, FCC certified: meets government and commercial compliance requirements

System requirements

The SML-28GPA runs on 100-240V AC internal power -- no external PoE injector required. Uplinks connect to core switches, NVRs, or routers via SFP fiber modules or standard RJ-45 copper. Advanced cloud features require the LumiCloud Switch Subscription (LCL-SW100); basic remote management is included at no charge.

How much PoE power is available per port?
Ports 1-2: up to 90W each (PoE++), ideal for PTZ and multi-sensor cameras. Ports 3-24: up to 30W each (PoE+) for standard IP cameras and readers. Total budget across all ports is 375W.
Does this switch support long cable runs to cameras?
Yes. LumiPoE extends PoE signal up to 820 ft (250 m) at 10 Mbps on CAT5e/CAT6, well beyond the standard 328 ft limit. Eliminates the need for injectors or extra IDF closets on long perimeter runs.
Is this switch NDAA compliant?
Yes. The SML-28GPA is NDAA compliant and FCC Part 15 Subpart B certified, meeting requirements for government and regulated commercial installations.
What happens when a camera freezes or goes offline?
The PoE Watchdog monitors all connected devices and automatically power-cycles any unresponsive port -- rebooting the camera without manual intervention or a truck roll.
How many cameras can I connect?
24 PoE ports total. Actual camera count depends on per-camera draw vs. the 375W budget. At 15W per port, all 24 run simultaneously. Ports 1-2 can each carry one 90W PoE++ device alongside standard-draw cameras on ports 3-24.
Does LumiCloud management require a paid subscription?
Basic LumiCloud management is included at no charge. Advanced features require the LumiCloud Switch Subscription (LCL-SW100), sold separately.
What uplink options does this switch offer?
Four uplinks: 2 x SFP (100/1000 Mbps) for fiber and 2 x RJ-45 Gigabit for copper. Connect to core switches, NVRs, or routers via fiber or copper to suit site requirements.
