LM-R52-16PA4

The Luminys R52-16PA4 is a 16-channel, 32MP-capable NVR built for commercial installations that need AI-driven footage search, extended-reach PoE, and recorder-side analytics — without per-channel license fees. The 4TB HDD ships inside; you're recording on day one.

Built for the commercial installer

NDAA-compliant out of the box, the R52-16PA4 runs iMD, VCA, and Face Recognition directly on the recorder — no separate server, no per-camera AI licensing to negotiate. LumiSearch+ lets you locate any target across all 16 channels of recorded footage using a reference image, searching by body shape, clothing color, and movement in seconds instead of hours. Ports 1-8 support LumiPower, extending PoE power and data up to 3,000 feet — cuts the need for midspan injectors or separate power circuits on long camera runs to parking lots, loading docks, or outbuildings. ONVIF and RTSP interoperability cover third-party cameras where full Luminys integration isn't required.

Key features

  • 16 PoE ports (IEEE 802.3 af/at): powers cameras direct from the NVR; ports 1-8 support LumiPower extended reach up to 3,000 ft, 130W total PoE budget
  • LumiSearch+ AI footage search: locate any target across 16 channels by appearance — body shape, clothing color, movement — no manual scrubbing
  • Recorder-side analytics — no license fees: iMD (8CH), VCA (4CH, up to 10 rules/channel), and Face Recognition (2CH) run on the box itself
  • Up to 32MP recording: full-resolution support for Luminys 32MP cameras; 400 Mbps recording bandwidth with AI off
  • 2x SATA, 4TB included: expandable to 32TB total; second drive adds capacity without downtime
  • NDAA compliant, ONVIF/RTSP compatible: clears government-funded job requirements and works in mixed-camera environments

System requirements

Requires a network switch or router for client access and remote viewing. LumiSearch+ requires LumiSearch+-enabled Luminys cameras. LumiCloud Lite is included; LumiCloud Unity subscriptions are sold separately. Manage via LumiViewer desktop or the LumiViewer mobile app (iOS/Android).

Does this NVR require per-camera analytics licenses?
No. The R52-16PA4 runs iMD (8 channels), VCA (4 channels, up to 10 rules per channel), and Face Recognition (2 channels) directly on the recorder. No per-camera license fees.
What is LumiSearch+ and how does it work?
LumiSearch+ lets you locate a person or vehicle across all 16 channels of footage using a reference image - analyzing body shape, clothing color, and movement. Requires LumiSearch+-enabled Luminys cameras.
How far can LumiPower cameras be from the NVR?
LumiPower (available on ports 1-8) extends PoE power and data up to 3,000 feet from the NVR. This eliminates the need for midspan injectors or separate power sources on long camera runs - useful for parking lots, loading docks, and outbuildings.
Is the R52-16PA4 NDAA compliant?
Yes. The R52-16PA4 is NDAA compliant, making it eligible for federal, state, and government-funded security installations.
Does it work with third-party IP cameras?
Yes, via ONVIF and RTSP. Third-party cameras can record and display on the NVR, but Luminys features like LumiSearch+, LumiPower, and recorder-side analytics require compatible Luminys cameras for full functionality.
How does enabling AI affect recording and decoding performance?
With AI Off: 400 Mbps recording bandwidth, 2CH decoding at 32MP or 16CH at 4MP. With AI On: 220 Mbps recording bandwidth, 1CH decoding at 32MP or 12CH at 4MP. Plan your camera density and resolution accordingly.
What storage can I add to the second SATA bay?
The NVR ships with one 4TB HDD installed. The second SATA bay accepts standard 3.5" surveillance-grade HDDs up to 16TB, for a maximum of 32TB total storage.
