LM-R52-8PA2

The Luminys R52-8PA2 is an 8-channel 1U NVR built for installers who need serious resolution headroom and smart analytics without a rack full of servers. With 8 PoE ports extended by LumiPower -- pushing data and power up to 3,000 feet -- and 32MP recording capability across all 8 channels, this box handles everything from tight retail corridors to sprawling campus perimeters. LumiSearch+ makes it fast to locate a person of interest by body shape, clothing color, and custom intrusion zone.

Built for the commercial installer

The R52-8PA2 is NDAA Section 889 compliant and FCC certified. Two onboard SATA bays support up to 16TB per drive, and this unit ships with a 2TB HDD already installed and ready to record. ONVIF compatibility lets it integrate cleanly into mixed-camera environments. LumiViewer desktop and mobile apps give end users real-time monitoring, playback, and alarm notifications at no added licensing cost.

Key features

  • 32MP recording across 8 channels: handles the full Luminys resolution stack from CIF up through 32MP, future-proofing camera upgrades
  • LumiPower PoE extends to 3,000 ft: powers and connects cameras in large facilities without additional injectors or extenders
  • LumiSearch+ on all 8 channels: finds targets by body shape, clothing color, and custom zones -- camera must be LumiSearch+ compatible
  • Analytics by recorder and by camera: iMD, VCA (10 rules per channel), and face recognition run at the NVR; camera-side AI (video metadata, LPR) feeds in alongside
  • 130W total PoE budget, 25.5W per port: supports IEEE 802.3 af/at cameras; rack- or desktop-mount 1U chassis
  • 2TB HDD included: ready to record on day one; expandable to 32TB across both SATA bays

System requirements

Each PoE port runs at 10/100 Mbps. Recording bandwidth tops out at 256 Mbps (AI off) or 200 Mbps (AI on) -- plan camera counts accordingly for mixed-AI deployments. LumiSearch+ requires a LumiSearch+-enabled camera; activating it disables Analytics by Recorder, Local Fisheye Dewarp, and the NVR face database (IP cameras retain their own face database access). LumiCloud Unity subscriptions are sold separately; LumiCloud Lite is included at no additional charge.

Is the R52-8PA2 NDAA compliant?
Yes. The R52-8PA2 is NDAA Section 889 compliant and FCC certified, making it eligible for government, education, and regulated commercial projects.
Does it ship with a hard drive installed?
Yes. The R52-8PA2 includes a 2TB HDD pre-installed and ready to record out of the box. Both SATA bays support up to 16TB per drive, giving you a maximum of 32TB local storage when both are populated.
What is the total PoE budget and per-port maximum?
130W total PoE output; up to 25.5W per port (IEEE 802.3 af/at). LumiPower extends power and data up to 3,000 ft -- no extenders needed for long camera runs in large or complex installations.
Does LumiSearch+ work with any IP camera?
No. LumiSearch+ requires a LumiSearch+-enabled camera. Activating it on the NVR disables Analytics by Recorder, Local Fisheye Dewarp, and the NVR face database. IP cameras retain their own face database access.
What analytics run on the NVR versus at the camera?
NVR-side: iMD (8ch), VCA 10 rules/ch (4ch), Face Recognition (2ch). Camera-side: Video Metadata (8ch), LPR (8ch, LPR camera required). LumiSearch+ (8ch) requires LumiSearch+-enabled cameras.
Will this NVR work with non-Luminys cameras?
Yes. The R52-8PA2 supports ONVIF and RTSP for integration with third-party IP cameras. Advanced analytics -- LumiSearch+, iMD, VCA, face recognition, and LPR -- require Luminys cameras with the corresponding firmware support.
What is the max recording bandwidth and how does AI mode affect it?
AI Off: 256 Mbps incoming/outgoing. AI On: 200 Mbps incoming/outgoing. For a fully-loaded 8-camera deployment with AI features enabled, budget your camera streams accordingly to stay under the 200 Mbps ceiling.
