LM-R52-8PA8

The Luminys R52-8PA8 is an 8-channel 8K NVR built for commercial security installs that demand high-resolution recording, built-in AI analytics, and extended PoE reach. With LumiPower delivering PoE up to 3,000 feet and LumiSearch+ for rapid forensic review across all 8 channels, it gives installers a complete, NDAA-compliant recording foundation without adding infrastructure overhead.

Built for the commercial installer

The R52-8PA8 records up to 32MP across 8 channels and ships with 8TB pre-installed -- two SATA bays allow expansion to 32TB. It runs recorder-side analytics (iMD, VCA, Face Recognition) without relying on camera processing, keeping high-accuracy coverage even in mixed-camera environments. ONVIF and RTSP interoperability means it fits alongside existing camera investments, while LumiCloud integration provides remote access and LumiViewer handles both desktop and mobile monitoring.

Key features

  • LumiSearch+: find, track, and identify targets across all 8 channels using clothing color, body shape, and attribute filters -- no clip-scrubbing required
  • LumiPower PoE: extends power and data up to 3,000 feet, eliminating repeaters or mid-run power taps on long cable runs
  • NVR-based analytics: iMD on 8 channels, VCA on 4 channels (10 rules per channel), Face Recognition on 2 channels -- all running on the recorder without camera-side licensing
  • Up to 32MP recording: supports the full Luminys camera resolution stack from 1080p to 32MP at up to 30 fps per channel
  • License plate recognition: 8-channel LPR with block/allow lists and up to 20,000 plate numbers stored on-unit
  • NDAA compliant: cleared for government, education, and enterprise deployments where supply chain compliance is a requirement

System requirements

The R52-8PA8 connects cameras directly via its 8 integrated PoE ports (IEEE 802.3 af/at, 130W total output). One Gigabit Ethernet port handles upstream network connectivity. LumiSearch+ requires LumiSearch+-enabled cameras -- note that activating LumiSearch+ disables Analytics by Recorder, Local Fisheye Dewarp, and the NVR face database (IP cameras retain their own face database access). LumiCloud Lite is included; LumiCloud Unity subscriptions are sold separately.

What cameras are compatible with this NVR?
ONVIF-compatible cameras work for live view and recording. For LumiSearch+, iMD, VCA, and Face Recognition, pair with Luminys cameras that support those features. Check the Luminys compatibility matrix for specific models.
Does LumiSearch+ require specific cameras?
Yes. LumiSearch+ requires LumiSearch+-enabled cameras. Enabling it disables Analytics by Recorder, Local Fisheye Dewarp, and the NVR face database (IP cameras keep their own face DB access).
How far can I run PoE cameras with LumiPower?
LumiPower extends PoE power and data up to 3,000 feet -- well beyond the standard 328-foot IEEE 802.3 limit. Requires LumiPower-supported cameras. Ideal for campuses or installs with long cable runs.
Is this NVR NDAA compliant?
Yes. The R52-8PA8 is NDAA compliant and FCC certified, making it suitable for government, education, and enterprise environments with supply chain compliance requirements.
How much storage does this unit support?
Ships with 8TB pre-installed. Two SATA bays support up to 16TB per drive, for a maximum of 32TB total on-unit storage. No eSATA expansion on this model.
What analytics run on the recorder without camera-side processing?
iMD runs on 8CH, VCA on 4CH (10 rules/ch), Face Recognition on 2CH (20 libraries, 20k images) -- all by recorder. Face Comparison Alarm runs on 8CH from camera. For 8CH VCA or LumiSearch+, camera-side processing is required.
What is the PoE power budget for this NVR?
The 8 integrated PoE ports share a 130W total budget, with a maximum of 25.5W per individual port (IEEE 802.3 af/at). Account for each camera's power draw when mixing PTZ cameras, heaters, or high-power dome cameras on the same switch.
