The Omada SG2008 is an 8-port Gigabit Smart switch for small closets and desktop installs, with VLANs, static routing and ACLs that an unmanaged switch cannot do. It runs from the included 12V adapter, or from a PoE source on one port when there is no outlet nearby.

Built for small sites that still need VLANs

Segment cameras, voice and guest traffic with 802.1Q VLANs, route between them with static routes and the built-in DHCP server, and lock down ports with 802.1X and ACLs. The steel case is fanless and includes a physical security lock slot, and the switch sits on a desk or mounts on a wall. In an Omada site it is adopted by the same controller as the gateway and APs.

Key features

  • Eight Gigabit ports: one of them accepts PoE in so the switch can be powered without a nearby outlet
  • VLANs and static routing: up to 4K VLAN groups and 32 IPv4/IPv6 static routes
  • Fanless steel case: silent in an office, with a physical security lock slot
  • Desktop or wall mount: rubber feet included for the desk
  • Omada management: zero-touch provisioning and batch firmware upgrades through the cloud controller

System requirements

Centralized management needs an Omada Cloud-Based Controller (firmware 5.15.22 or later), Omada hardware controller or Omada Software Controller (5.15.20 or later); zero-touch provisioning needs the cloud controller. Without a controller the switch runs standalone from its own web interface and CLI.

FAQs

Can the SG2008 be powered by PoE?
Yes. One RJ45 port accepts PoE in as an alternative to the included 12V adapter. The datasheet does not name the PoE standard, so check the source device.
Does it supply PoE to other devices?
No. It has no PoE output. For powered cameras or APs use a PoE model such as the SG2008P.
Does it need an Omada controller?
No. It runs standalone from its web interface and CLI. An Omada controller adds centralized management, and the cloud controller adds zero-touch provisioning.
Can it route between VLANs?
Yes. It has 32 IPv4/IPv6 static routes and a DHCP server, so it can route between camera, voice and data VLANs without a separate router for small sites.
Is it noisy?
No. It is fanless, so it is silent on a desk or wall.
