Pairs with

The Versa LAMP-ZW2 is a Z-Wave 800 Series Long Range plug-in lamp dimmer. It sits between a grounded indoor outlet and a lamp and turns that outlet into a dimmable one, with no wiring, no wall plate and no electrician. It is officially Alarm.com approved, so a dealer can add it to an Alarm.com account and control it natively, with no secondary app and no workaround.

A real dimmer, not just a smart plug

It sets a brightness level from 10 to 99 percent out of the box, on up to 200W incandescent or 100W dimmable CFL/LED, and parameters 11 and 12 move the bottom and top of that range for a stubborn bulb. The button carries two brightness levels of its own: a single tap from off lands on one level and a double tap lands on a night light level, both configurable through parameters. They work at the plug with no hub involved, so the lamp keeps doing it if the network goes down.

Setup is SmartStart. Scan the Z-Wave QR code on the back of the plug, power it up, and it joins within ten minutes. Long Range mode is a SmartStart join on an 800 Series controller with Long Range switched on. On classic mesh the plug also repeats for other mains-powered devices.

FAQs

Is the LAMP-ZW2 Alarm.com approved?
Yes. It is officially Alarm.com approved, and dealers can add it to a customer account and control it natively. The approval is specific to the LAMP-ZW2, not other Versa Z-Wave devices.
Can a smart plug dim lights?
This one can. The LAMP-ZW2 sets a brightness level, so your hub sees a dimmer with a slider and not a toggle. The range is 10 to 99 percent as shipped, adjustable with parameters 11 and 12.
What bulbs and wattage does the LAMP-ZW2 support?
Up to 200W incandescent and up to 100W dimmable CFL/LED, as printed on the plug. Use bulbs marked dimmable so the dimmer holds a steady level near the bottom of its range.
How do I add or reset the LAMP-ZW2?
Scan the Z-Wave QR code on the back and plug it in; it joins within ten minutes. Or set the controller to add and press the button three times. Factory reset: two quick presses, then hold the third 10 seconds.
How far does the LAMP-ZW2 reach on Long Range?
Up to 1300 ft direct to the controller on Long Range and 330 ft (100 m) per hop on classic mesh. Long Range needs an 800 Series controller with Long Range enabled and a SmartStart join.
Does it work with my existing Z-Wave controller?
It works with any Z-Wave certified controller. Versa lists Alarm.com, 2GIG EDGE, Qolsys IQ, SmartThings, Hubitat and Home Assistant. Older and newer Z-Wave devices work together on one network.
Can I lock out the button for a rental or commercial job?
Yes. Parameter 16 sets what can control the plug: hub only, button and hub together (default), or neither. Parameter 17 blocks programming from the button.
Does it remember its state after a power cut?
Yes. By default it returns to its previous state after power returns. This is parameter 8, and it can be changed from the hub.
Can the LAMP-ZW2 be used outdoors or with a heater?
No. It is for indoor, dry locations only, on a grounded outlet. Do not use it with electric heaters, heat lamps, sun lamps, medical equipment or anything hazardous if it switches on unattended.
