SKU:
KD-APS6A

The Kidde APS6A delivers 6.5 amps of filtered, regulated 24 VDC power for notification appliance circuits and auxiliary loads on commercial fire alarm systems. Four independently supervised Class B outputs (convertible to two Class A) let you expand NAC capacity without replacing the main panel - each circuit handles 3 amps with self-restoring overcurrent protection, and dual-input activation means you can drive the APS from the existing FACP's NAC or from a separate signaling circuit.

Built for the commercial fire installer

UL 864 10th-Edition listed with FM approval, ULC-S527, and NYC Fire Department COA. The APS6A mounts in the standard Kidde Commercial keyed lockable steel cabinet and accommodates up to two 24 Ah batteries internally. External battery cabinet options (BC-1) extend standby capacity up to 65 Ah for longer secondary power requirements. Genesis and Enhanced Integrity notification appliance synchronization is supported out of the box, with 3-3-3 temporal or continuous signal rate options.

Key features

  • 6.5A total regulated output across four supervised NAC/AUX circuits at 3A each
  • Class B or Class A configurable - match the job's wiring class via JP1/JP2 jumpers without swapping hardware
  • Cascadable and independently operable from the main system NAC or as a standalone booster
  • On-board diagnostics with seven LEDs for NAC status, battery, ground fault, and AC power
  • Genesis and Enhanced Integrity synchronization for coordinated notification appliance operation
  • Optional OSHPD seismic pre-approval (Importance Factor 1.5) with the APSEQ seismic kit

System requirements

The APS6A requires 120VAC input (220-240VAC model available as APS6A/230). It accepts sense input from an existing NAC (6 to 45 VDC) to follow the main panel's signal pattern. A 200 mA dedicated auxiliary output provides continuous 24 VDC for ancillary loads. Factory-installed Signature module mounting brackets support up to two SIGA-AA30 or SIGA-AA50 dual-channel audio amplifiers or GSA-series modules for expanded system integration.

How many NAC circuits does the APS6A provide?
Four Class B circuits, convertible to two Class A via JP1/JP2 jumpers. Each output is rated at 3A at 24 VDC with self-restoring overcurrent protection. Total combined output is 6.5A.
Can this power supply be cascaded with additional units?
Yes. The APS6A can be cascaded or controlled independently. It follows the coded signal rate of the main system NAC for seamless expansion of existing notification circuits.
What batteries does the APS6A support?
The internal compartment fits up to two 12V batteries from 6.5 to 24 Ah. For larger standby requirements up to 65 Ah, use the BC-1 external battery cabinet. Cut JP4 for batteries under 10 Ah to set the correct charging rate.
Does the APS6A support Genesis notification appliance synchronization?
Yes. The APS6A provides Genesis and Enhanced Integrity notification appliance synchronization and supports 3-3-3 temporal or continuous signal rates.
Is this power supply seismic rated?
The APS6A has optional earthquake hardening with OSHPD seismic pre-approval for component Importance Factor 1.5. Order the APSEQ seismic kit separately.
What modules can be installed inside the APS6A cabinet?
Mounting brackets support up to two SIGA-AA30 or SIGA-AA50 audio amplifiers, GSA-UIO modules, GSA-REL releasing modules, and the MN-BRKT3F bracket for Ethernet switches and VoIP modules.
