SKU:
KD-EGCAVRN

The Genesis LED EGC Series ceiling horn/strobe brings high-performance LED notification to commercial fire alarm circuits with significantly lower current draw than Xenon-based devices. Field-selectable 15, 30, 75, or 115 cd strobe output and high/low dB horn settings let you configure a single SKU for the job at hand - fewer models to stock, fewer return trips to swap appliances.

Built for the commercial fire alarm installer

Operating on 16-33 VDC or 16-33 VFWR, the EGCAVRN draws as little as 50 mA (horn-strobe at low dB, 15 cd) - allowing more devices per NAC circuit and reducing the need for booster power supplies. The low-profile housing protrudes just 1.5" from the mounting surface and fits standard 1-gang, 2-gang, 4-inch octagon, or 4-inch square electrical boxes. UL 1971 listed, ULC listed, FM approved.

Key features

  • LED technology with ultra-low current draw: more devices per circuit, longer wire runs, fewer booster power supplies
  • Field-selectable 15, 30, 75, or 115 cd strobe output via slide switch - configure without removing the device from the ceiling
  • Selectable high or low dB horn output with constant or T3 temporal pattern options
  • Room-side wiring plate included: pre-install and pre-wire with the GP10 plate, then snap the device into place
  • Diagnostics check bar and test port for circuit verification without removing the appliance
  • Backward compatible: mix LED and legacy Xenon Genesis strobes on the same synchronized NAC circuit

System requirements

Requires a compatible NAC circuit operating at 16-33 VDC or 16-33 VFWR. Synchronization via Kidde CC Series Signal Modules, Booster and Auxiliary Power Supplies, or compatible Intelligent and Conventional Control Panels. 12 to 18 AWG wiring.

Can I mix Genesis LED EGC strobes with existing Xenon strobes on the same circuit?
Yes. Genesis LED EGC strobes are backward compatible and can be mixed with legacy Xenon-based Genesis strobes on the same synchronized NAC circuit. No need to replace every device when upgrading to LED.
How do I change the candela or sound settings in the field?
Candela and sound output are adjusted via slide switches accessible by removing the cover with a screwdriver. The selected candela setting remains visible through a small window on the cover. The device does not need to be removed from the ceiling.
What electrical boxes does the Genesis EGC ceiling mount fit?
Standard 1-gang, 2-gang, 4-inch octagon, and 4-inch square electrical boxes with a minimum depth of 1-1/2". Optional EGCTR (red) and EGCTW (white) trim plates are available to cover oversized openings.
Does the EGC Series support pre-wiring before the finish ceiling is up?
Yes. The included GP10 room-side wiring plate lets you pre-install and pre-wire during rough-in. Use the diagnostics check bar to verify circuit continuity, then snap the device into place during trim-out.
What synchronization sources work with Genesis LED EGC devices?
Kidde CC Series Signal Modules, Booster and Auxiliary Power Supplies, and compatible Intelligent and Conventional Control Panels. All Genesis strobes exceed UL synchronization requirements (within 10 milliseconds over a two-hour period).
How much current does the EGCAVRN draw?
At 15 cd with low dB horn: approximately 50 mA on DC, 60 mA on FWR. At 115 cd with high dB horn: approximately 60 mA on DC, 75 mA on FWR. Low current draw means more devices per NAC circuit before a booster is needed.
