The Kidde Genesis LED EGCSVRN is a ceiling-mount speaker/strobe that combines audio and visual notification in a single low-profile appliance. Selectable 15, 30, 75, or 115 candela output and 25V/70V speaker operation give you one device that adapts to the job instead of stocking multiple SKUs.

Built for the commercial installer

The EGCS Series mounts to standard 2-gang or 4-inch square electrical boxes with a minimum 1-1/2 inch depth. The included room-side wiring plate (GRSW) keeps all wiring accessible from the finished side of the ceiling - no need to get above the drop tile to make connections. Candela and wattage settings are field-selectable without removing the device from the box; just slide the switches under the cover skin. UL and ULC listed for fire alarm notification appliance service.

System requirements

Requires a compatible fire alarm control panel or signal module for strobe synchronization. Synchronization sources include Kidde CC Series Signal Modules, Booster and Auxiliary Power Supplies, and Intelligent and Conventional Control Panels. Maximum 20 wire resistance between any two synchronized devices.

FAQs

Does this speaker/strobe work with both 25V and 70V systems?
Yes. The Genesis LED EGCS Series speakers support both 25VRMS and 70VRMS operation. The voltage is field-selectable via a switch under the cover.
What candela settings are available?
Four field-selectable settings: 15, 30, 75, or 115 candela. The setting is changed by sliding the candela switch under the cover skin - no need to remove the device from the electrical box.
What electrical boxes does this mount to?
Standard 2-gang or 4-inch square electrical boxes with a minimum depth of 1-1/2 inches (3.81 cm). Kidde recommends mounting at 81 inches AFF.
Is the room-side wiring plate included?
Yes. The GRSW room-side wiring plate ships with every EGCS Series appliance. It allows all wiring connections from the finished (room) side of the ceiling.
Can the strobe be synchronized with other notification devices?
Yes. Strobes synchronize at 1 fps when connected to compatible Kidde CC Series Signal Modules, Booster and Auxiliary Power Supplies, or Intelligent and Conventional Control Panels. Maximum wire resistance between any two devices is 20 Ω.
What is the current draw for the strobe circuit?
35 mA on 16-33 VDC, 45 mA on 16-33 VFWR. Current draw is the same across all candela settings (15, 30, 75, 115 cd).
