KD-EGCSVHRF

The Genesis LED EGCS ceiling speaker-strobe puts high-candela visual notification (135-185 cd, field-selectable) and clear 25/70V speaker output into a single ceiling-mount device. Powered from the FACP's NAC circuit at 24VDC, it drops onto a standard 4-inch square or two-gang electrical box. The included GRSW room-side wiring plate lets you pre-wire, terminate, and check continuity with the built-in diagnostics bar before the device goes up - no second trip to the ceiling.

Built for the commercial fire installer

UL 1971, UL 464, ULC-S526, and ULC-S541 listed. The LED strobe eliminates lamp replacement - a real advantage on high-ceiling installs where reaching the device means scaffolding or a lift. Genesis LED strobes can be mixed with legacy Xenon devices on the same NAC circuit and in the same field of view, making this a practical upgrade path for existing systems. Synchronization meets NFPA 72 requirements when paired with a compatible Kidde panel or Genesis Signal Master module.

Key features

  • High candela output (135-185 cd): field-selectable for large open spaces, atriums, and high-ceiling applications where standard 15-115 cd units fall short
  • Speaker taps at ¼W, ½W, 1W, and 2W: selectable for 25V or 70V circuits via a field switch under the cover
  • LED strobe technology: no lamp replacement, lower current draw than xenon, consistent flash intensity across rated life
  • Room-side wiring plate included: pre-install, terminate, and test wiring with the diagnostics check bar before mounting the device
  • 520Hz low-frequency capable: meets NFPA standards for sleeping areas in hotels, dormitories, and residential occupancies
  • Low profile: protrudes only 1.5" from the mounting surface

System requirements

Requires a 24VDC NAC circuit from a compatible FACP. For synchronized strobe operation across multiple devices, use a Genesis Signal Master or compatible Kidde panel with built-in sync output. Speaker circuit is independent of the strobe circuit - both circuits wire through the device for easy daisy-chaining.

What candela settings does the EGCSVHRF offer?
The EGCSVHRF is the high-candela version of the Genesis EGCS ceiling speaker-strobe, with field-selectable settings in the 135-185 cd range. Standard EGCS speaker-strobe models (EGCSVRF) cover 15, 30, 75, and 115 cd.
Does this work with non-Kidde fire panels?
Yes. The speaker-strobe operates on any 24VDC NAC circuit (16-33V range). For synchronized strobe operation, use a Genesis Signal Master module. Kidde VS and FX Series panels provide native sync without an external module.
Can I mix this with existing Xenon strobes?
Yes. Genesis LED EGCS strobes can be mixed with legacy Xenon-type strobes on the same NAC circuit and in the same field of view. No need to replace every device to start using LED notification.
What speaker voltages and power taps are available?
Both 25V and 70V audio circuits, switched via a field-selectable toggle under the cover. Power taps are independently selectable at ¼W, ½W, 1W, or 2W, producing 78-87 dBA reverberant output.
Does the room-side wiring plate come included?
Yes. Every Genesis EGCS ships with the GRSW room-side wiring plate. It allows pre-installation and pre-wiring, plus continuity checking via the built-in diagnostics bar, before the device is mounted.
What electrical box does this mount on?
Standard 4-inch square or two-gang electrical box. Optional EGCTR (red) or EGCTW (white) trim plates cover oversized openings. Optional 27193-21 (red) or 27193-26 (white) surface-mount boxes also available.
