The Kidde Genesis LED EGCS ceiling speaker-strobe delivers high-candela visual notification and clear voice audio from a single low-profile ceiling appliance. Rated at 135 to 185 cd, this high-output model covers larger open spaces where standard candela devices fall short - warehouses, atriums, convention centers, and high-bay commercial areas that need serious visual punch to meet NFPA 72 spacing.
Built for the commercial fire installer
The EGCSVHWN mounts to standard two-gang or 4-inch square electrical boxes using the included GRSW room side wiring plate. Pre-wire the plate, snap the device on, done - no special hardware, no oversized boxes. Dual-voltage speaker operation (25VRMS and 70VRMS selectable) and field-selectable wattage taps (1/4W, 1/2W, 1W, 2W) let one SKU handle a range of system designs. UL 1971-listed, UL 1480-listed, and ULC-listed for public-mode notification.
Key features
- High-candela output (135-185 cd): covers larger spaces and longer corridors where standard 15/30/75/115 cd devices can't meet spacing requirements
- 0.81 STI speech intelligibility: voice audio cuts through high-ambient-noise environments, rated excellent for speech clarity
- 520Hz low-frequency capable: meets NFPA requirements for commercial sleeping areas in hotels, dormitories, and residential occupancies
- LED current stays flat across all candela settings: simplifies NAC circuit design and allows future output changes without recalculating wire runs
- Backwards compatible with legacy Xenon strobes: mix LED and Xenon devices on the same NAC circuit during phased upgrades
- Under-cover diagnostic test points: validate NAC circuit voltage at the device without pulling it off the ceiling
System compatibility
Synchronizes with Kidde CC Series Signal Modules, Booster and Auxiliary Power Supplies, and Kidde Intelligent and Conventional Control Panels. Genesis LED synchronization protocol keeps multiple strobes well within NFPA 72 requirements on compatible NAC circuits. White housing, no marking - field-replaceable quick-swap covers available to add FIRE or ALERT markings after install.
