The Kidde Genesis LED EG1VRN is a compact wall-mount LED strobe built for commercial fire alarm notification circuits. Field-selectable 15, 30, or 75 cd output covers everything from small offices to open corridors, and the ultra-low current draw (24 mA DC at any setting) means fewer power supplies and lighter wire runs on the NAC circuit.

Built for the commercial installer

The EG1 mounts directly to standard 1-gang electrical boxes with no trim ring required, protruding just over an inch from the wall. Optional trim rings (EG1TR red, EG1TW white) cover oversized openings on 4-inch square and octagon boxes. LED technology is backwards compatible with legacy Xenon Genesis strobes - mix them on the same NAC circuit and in the same field of view without replacing existing devices. UL 1971, UL 1638, and UL 464 listed. ADA compliant. CSFM approved.

Synchronization

Genesis LED strobes exceed UL synchronization requirements (within 10 ms over a two-hour period) when paired with Kidde CC Series Signal Modules, Booster and Auxiliary Power Supplies, or Intelligent and Conventional Control Panels. Maximum 20 ohm wire resistance between any two devices on the circuit.

Can Genesis LED EG1 strobes be mixed with legacy Xenon strobes on the same circuit?
Yes. Genesis LED strobes can be mixed on the same NAC circuit and used in the same field of view as legacy Xenon-based Genesis strobes. No need to rip and replace existing devices when upgrading to LED.
What electrical boxes does the EG1 strobe fit?
Standard 1-gang surface or flush boxes (minimum 1-1/2 in. deep). Also fits 2-gang, 4-inch octagon, and 4-inch square boxes when paired with the optional EG1TR (red) or EG1TW (white) trim ring.
How do I change the candela setting?
Remove the snap-on cover and slide the candela selector switch to 15, 30, or 75 cd. The device stays mounted - no need to disconnect wiring. The selected setting is visible through a window on the left side of the cover.
Does this strobe synchronize with other Genesis devices?
Yes. Genesis LED strobes sync within 10 ms (UL-compliant) when paired with Kidde CC Series Signal Modules, Booster/Auxiliary Power Supplies, or Intelligent/Conventional Control Panels. Max 20 ohm between devices.
Can the cover marking be changed in the field?
Yes. Quick-swap replacement covers are available: EG1VRN-CVR (red, no marking) and EG1VRF-CVR (red, FIRE). Swap takes seconds with no tools beyond releasing the cover tab.
