SKU:
KD-FX-2WIRE

The FX-2Wire bridges conventional two-wire smoke detectors onto a Kidde FX Series addressable SLC loop without swapping out existing detectors. It monitors the two-wire zone, regulates and supervises the 24 VDC detector power, and reports alarm or trouble conditions back to the FACP as a single addressable point.

Built for the fire alarm installer

Class A and Class B SLC wiring configurations are selectable via a slide switch on the module face, matching the job's requirements without panel-side reprogramming. The module supports two-wire alarm verification (configurable through front panel programming or the configuration utility) and recognizes CleanMe signals from compatible Kidde detectors, flagging contamination before nuisance alarms start. Rotary address switches set the SLC point address with a screwdriver - no programming tool needed. Fits standard North American 4" square boxes.

Key features

  • Conventional detector retention: keeps existing two-wire smoke detectors in service when upgrading to an FX Series addressable panel
  • Class A/B selectable: slide switch on the module front sets SLC wiring style - no panel programming change required
  • CleanMe signal recognition: monitors detector contamination status from compatible Kidde detectors
  • Rotary address switches: set the SLC device address (01-127 depending on panel) with a screwdriver
  • Standard mounting: fits 4" square x 2-1/2" deep 2-gang box or standard 4" square box 1-1/2" deep
  • Bicolor LED status: flashing green for normal, flashing red for active - visible confirmation at the device

System requirements

Requires a Kidde FX Series intelligent fire alarm control panel with available SLC capacity. The module draws input power from the panel (12.4 to 28.3 VDC) to power connected two-wire detectors. Do not mix normally open contact initiating devices with two-wire conventional smoke detectors when using alarm verification. Cannot be used on a device loop with isolator modules or isolator bases.

Does the FX-2Wire work with any conventional two-wire smoke detector?
It works with conventional two-wire smoke detectors. Do not mix normally open contact initiating devices with two-wire conventional smoke detectors when using alarm verification mode.
Can I use this module on a Class A SLC loop?
Yes. A slide switch on the front of the module selects between Class A and Class B SLC wiring. No panel-side programming change is needed to switch.
What is CleanMe and does this module support it?
CleanMe is a Kidde feature that signals when a detector needs cleaning before it becomes a nuisance alarm source. The FX-2Wire recognizes CleanMe signals from compatible Kidde detectors and passes the status to the control panel.
How do I set the device address?
Use the two rotary switches on the module face. The TENS switch (0-12) and ONES switch (0-9) set the SLC point address. One address per module. Supported range is 01-64 on 64-point panels, 01-127 on 1000-point panels.
Can I use this module with isolator modules or isolator bases?
No. The FX-2Wire cannot be used on a device loop that includes isolator modules or isolator bases.
What control panels are compatible with the FX-2Wire?
Kidde FX Series intelligent fire alarm control panels with available SLC loop capacity. The module draws 12.4 to 28.3 VDC input power from the panel.
