SKU:
KD-KI-SDHR

The Kidde KI-SDHR is a duct smoke detector housing with built-in Form C relay base, designed for use with KI-series and Optica intelligent duct detectors. Whether you're adding a new duct detection point or replacing an aging housing, the KI-SDHR provides the galvanized steel enclosure, relay output, and duct mounting assembly for HVAC smoke detection per NFPA 72.

Built for the fire alarm installer

The housing mounts directly to rectangular HVAC ductwork. A sampling tube extends into the airstream, using venturi pressure differential to pull air through the detector's sensing chamber. The built-in Form C relay (rated 2.0 A at 30 VDC, resistive) provides direct HVAC shutdown or damper control without needing a separate relay module on the job. Rated for air velocities from 100 to 4,000 ft/min and operating temperatures from 32°F to 120°F. UL and ULC listed.

Key features

  • Compatible with KI-series and Optica intelligent detector heads: one housing supports both duct detector families on the SLC loop
  • Built-in Form C relay output rated 2.0 A at 30 VDC for direct HVAC shutdown or damper control
  • 100 to 4,000 ft/min air velocity rating for reliable sampling across a wide range of commercial duct conditions
  • Sampling tube rotates in 45-degree increments for proper airflow alignment at any mounting angle
  • Less than 2 inches deep for tight installations where clearance behind the duct is limited
  • UL and ULC listed for duct smoke detection applications per NFPA 72

System requirements

Requires a compatible KI-series or Optica intelligent detector head (sold separately) and an SD-T sampling tube sized for the duct width. Sampling tubes range from 8 inches (SD-T8) to 120 inches (SD-T120). The detector head connects to the fire alarm control panel on the SLC loop.

What detectors are compatible with the KI-SDHR housing?
The KI-SDHR works with KI-series and Optica intelligent duct smoke detectors. The detector head connects to the relay base inside the housing and communicates on the SLC loop to the fire alarm control panel.
Does the KI-SDHR include a detector head?
No. The KI-SDHR is the duct housing and relay base only. Order a compatible KI-series or Optica intelligent detector head separately.
What does the built-in Form C relay do?
The Form C relay provides an auxiliary alarm output for controlling HVAC equipment, dampers, or other ancillary devices. Rated 2.0 A at 30 VDC (resistive). No separate relay module needed.
What sampling tube length do I need?
Select an SD-T sampling tube that matches your duct width. Available lengths: SD-T8 (8 in) through SD-T120 (120 in). The tube extends across the duct to sample the airstream.
Is this housing UL listed for duct smoke detection?
Yes. The KI-SDHR is UL listed, ULC listed, and CSFM approved for duct smoke detection applications per NFPA 72.
