The Kidde KIR-DDOS is an Optica Intelligent duct smoke detector with rotary addressing, built for early detection of smoke in HVAC ductwork. It connects to Kidde Intelligent Rotary Loop controllers via SLC wiring and provides continuous sampling of supply or return air to catch smoke before it circulates through the building.
Built for the commercial fire installer
At less than 2.5 inches deep, the KIR-DDOS fits tight above-ceiling spaces without forcing duct rework. Separate sensing and control sections snap apart for fast cleaning and maintenance. Standard sampling tube spacing means drop-in migration from legacy duct detectors with no new penetrations. UL, ULC, and CSFM listed.
Key features
- Photoelectric Optica sensing with differential compensation: filters out gradual environmental drift to reduce unwanted alarms while catching rapid smoke events
- Rotary switch addressing (1-127): set addresses on the interface board with a small screwdriver, no programming tool required
- Form C auxiliary alarm relay: directly controls HVAC shutdown or ancillary equipment without extra modules
- Built-in self-diagnostics: tracks hours of operation, last maintenance date, alarm count, and dirty/defective status in nonvolatile memory
- Magnet-activated test switch: test from outside the cover, or connect a remote test station for ceiling-mounted installs
- Sampling tube rotates in 45-degree increments: align air holes to match any duct airflow angle without cutting a new opening
System requirements
Requires a Kidde Intelligent Rotary Loop controller (FACP with SLC loop). Sampling tubes are ordered separately in lengths from 8 to 120 inches. Optional remote test stations (SD-TRM magnetic, SD-TRK keyed) and remote alarm LED (SIGA-LED) available for installs where the detector is hidden from view.
