The Kidde KIR-DDOS is an Optica Intelligent duct smoke detector with rotary addressing, built for early detection of smoke in HVAC ductwork. It connects to Kidde Intelligent Rotary Loop controllers via SLC wiring and provides continuous sampling of supply or return air to catch smoke before it circulates through the building.

At less than 2.5 inches deep, the KIR-DDOS fits tight above-ceiling spaces without forcing duct rework. Separate sensing and control sections snap apart for fast cleaning and maintenance. Standard sampling tube spacing means drop-in migration from legacy duct detectors with no new penetrations. UL, ULC, and CSFM listed.

System requirements

Requires a Kidde Intelligent Rotary Loop controller (FACP with SLC loop). Sampling tubes are ordered separately in lengths from 8 to 120 inches. Optional remote test stations (SD-TRM magnetic, SD-TRK keyed) and remote alarm LED (SIGA-LED) available for installs where the detector is hidden from view.

What panels does the KIR-DDOS work with?
The KIR-DDOS is compatible with Kidde Intelligent Rotary Loop controllers. It connects via SLC wiring and uses rotary switch addressing (1-127).
Does the KIR-DDOS require a separate power supply?
No. It operates on 15.2 to 19.95 VDC supplied by the SLC loop from the FACP. Standby current draw is just 50 µA.
Can I use existing sampling tube openings from an older duct detector?
Yes. The KIR-DDOS uses standard sampling tube spacing for drop-in migration from other duct detectors without cutting new duct penetrations.
How do I test the detector once it's installed above a ceiling?
Use the magnet-activated test switch on the detector cover, or connect an optional remote test station (SD-TRM magnetic or SD-TRK keyed) for testing from a convenient wall location.
Does the KIR-DDOS include a relay for HVAC shutdown?
