SKU:
KD-EGCAVWF

The Genesis EGC ceiling-mount LED horn-strobe delivers efficient visual and audible notification in a low-profile package built for indoor fire alarm applications. High-efficiency LED technology pulls significantly less current than legacy Xenon devices, which means more devices per NAC circuit, longer wire runs, and fewer booster power supplies on the job.

Built for the commercial installer

UL 1971-listed and FM Approved, the EGCAVWF ships in white with FIRE marking and mounts to standard 1-gang, 2-gang, 4-inch octagon, and 4-inch square electrical boxes. Field-selectable candela (15, 30, 75, or 115 cd) and configurable horn output (high/low dB, temporal/constant) keep SKU counts down while covering the range of project requirements. The Genesis LED control protocol synchronizes all strobes on compatible NAC circuits within NFPA 72 requirements.

Key features

  • Low current draw: 50-60 mA DC (horn-strobe), supporting higher device counts per NAC and longer wire runs
  • Backward compatible with Xenon strobes: mix LED and legacy devices on the same circuit and in the same field of view
  • Field-selectable output: 15/30/75/115 cd strobe and high/low dB horn without removing the device from the ceiling
  • Pre-wire friendly: included GP10 room-side wiring plate allows rough-in, continuity check, and snap-in final mount
  • Under-cover diagnostic test points for circuit testing while the device stays mounted
  • Ultra-slim profile: just 1.82" deep, no visible screws on the finished installation

System compatibility

Synchronizes with Kidde CC Series Signal Modules, Booster and Auxiliary Power Supplies, and both Intelligent and Conventional Control Panels. Accepts 12 to 18 AWG wiring. Replaceable quick-swap covers allow marking changes (FIRE, ALERT, or none) without swapping the device.

Can I mix EGC LED strobes with existing Xenon strobes on the same NAC?
Yes. EGC LED strobes are backward compatible with legacy Xenon strobes and can be mixed on the same circuit and in the same field of view. This makes them ideal for retrofit and expansion projects where full device replacement isn't practical.
What candela settings are available and how do I change them?
Field-selectable 15, 30, 75, or 115 cd. Remove the cover and slide the candela switch to the desired setting. The device does not need to be removed from the ceiling, and the setting remains visible through a window on the cover.
What electrical boxes does the EGC ceiling mount fit?
Standard 1-gang, 2-gang, 4-inch octagon, and 4-inch square boxes with a minimum depth of 1-1/2 inches. Optional EGCTW white or EGCTR red trim plates cover oversized openings.
How does the room-side wiring plate simplify installation?
The included GP10 wiring plate mounts first for pre-wiring and continuity checks before the device is installed. The EGC snaps into place once wiring is confirmed. Under-cover test points allow circuit testing while mounted.
Does the horn support coded NAC operation?
Horn-only models support constant output for coded circuits controlled by Kidde panels and control modules. Horn-strobe models operate in temporal (TC3) or constant mode with field-selectable high or low dB output.
What synchronization sources work with Genesis EGC strobes?
Kidde CC Series Signal Modules, Booster and Auxiliary Power Supplies, and both Intelligent and Conventional Control Panels. Maximum 20 Ω resistance between any two devices on the circuit.
