The Genesis LED EGC Series ceiling-mount horn-strobe delivers selectable audible and visual notification in a low-profile package that protrudes just 1.5" from the mounting surface. High-efficiency LED technology draws less current per device than legacy Xenon strobes, letting you load more appliances per NAC circuit with lighter wire gauge and fewer booster power supplies.

Built for the commercial installer

EGC Series devices are UL and ULC listed, with FCC and FM approvals. They mount to standard 1-gang, 2-gang, 4-inch octagon, and 4-inch square electrical boxes using the included GP10 room-side wiring plate. Pre-install and pre-wire at rough-in, then snap the appliance into place at trim. The diagnostics check bar on the wiring plate confirms continuity before the cover goes on. LED strobes are backwards compatible with legacy Xenon units on the same NAC circuit, so retrofits don't require full system replacement.

Key features

  • Selectable strobe output: field-configurable 15, 30, 75, or 115 cd via slide switch without removing the device from the ceiling
  • Selectable horn output: high or low dB, constant or temporal (T3) pattern via slide switch
  • Low-profile design: protrudes just 1.5" from the mounting surface with no visible mounting screws
  • Lower current draw: high-efficiency LEDs let you run more devices per circuit and use lighter wire gauge
  • Backwards compatible: mixes with existing Xenon-based strobes on the same NAC circuit for phased upgrades
  • Quick-swap covers: change markings from FIRE to ALERT or plain at any time without replacing the device

Mounting compatibility

Fits standard 1-gang, 2-gang, 4-inch octagon, and 4-inch square electrical boxes. Boxes must be at least 1-1/2" deep. Optional EGCTW white trim plate covers oversized openings. Wiring uses 12 to 18 AWG in-out screw terminals.

Can I mix Genesis LED EGC strobes with older Xenon strobes on the same NAC circuit?
Yes. EGC LED strobes are backwards compatible with legacy Xenon-based strobes on the same NAC circuit. You can upgrade appliances over time without replacing the entire circuit.
How do I change the candela setting in the field?
Remove the cover with a flathead screwdriver and slide the candela switch to 15, 30, 75, or 115 cd. The device does not need to be removed from the ceiling. The selected setting is visible through a small window on the cover.
What electrical boxes fit Genesis EGC ceiling devices?
Standard 1-gang, 2-gang, 4-inch octagon, and 4-inch square electrical boxes. Boxes must be at least 1-1/2" (3.81 cm) deep. The optional EGCTW white trim ring covers oversized openings.
Does the horn-strobe require a sync module?
Yes. Code requires strobe sync. Compatible sources: Kidde CC Series Signal Modules, Booster and Auxiliary Power Supplies, Intelligent and Conventional Control Panels. Max 20 ohm between devices.
Can I change the cover marking without replacing the device?
Yes. Replacement covers are available separately in FIRE, ALERT, and unmarked options. Snap off the old cover and snap on the new one - no tools beyond a flathead screwdriver required.
What is the current draw for a horn-strobe at 115 cd?
At 115 cd on high dB (24 VDC), the horn-strobe draws approximately 127 mA DC. LED technology significantly reduces per-device current compared to legacy Xenon strobes, allowing more devices per circuit.
