The Kidde KIR-HCD puts heat detection and carbon monoxide sensing on a single SLC address, cutting device count and install time on intelligent Kidde fire alarm systems. Rotary-addressed (0-159) for quick commissioning without a laptop, it mounts on any standard Kidde KI-series base and draws power directly from the SLC loop.

This detector combines rate-of-rise heat sensing (15°F/min), fixed temperature heat sensing (135°F), and electrochemical CO detection in one device. Evaluated to the CO alarm sensitivity limits of UL 2034 and listed under UL521, UL2075, and ULC-s530. Automatic drift compensation keeps the detector calibrated over time, reducing nuisance alarms and maintenance callbacks.

Does this detector require a separate CO panel?
No. The KIR-HCD reports both heat and CO alarm conditions to the Kidde Intelligent FACP over the SLC loop. No separate CO detection panel or controller is needed.
What bases are compatible with the KIR-HCD?
Standard (KI-SB), 4-inch (KI-SB4), relay (KI-RB, KI-RB4), isolator (KI-IB, KI-IB4), and sounder bases (KI-ABDT, KI-ABLT). Sounder bases require FX-T3T4 temporal pattern generator. All bases sold separately.
How is the detector addressed?
Two rotary switches on the detector set the SLC address from 0 to 159. No laptop or handheld programming tool is required at the device.
Can this detector be used on Class A SLC loops?
Yes, when mounted on a KI-IB or KI-IB4 isolator base. The isolator base provides built-in fault isolation for Class A circuit protection.
What CO alarm thresholds does this detector use?
Per UL 2034 and CAN/CSA 6.19: 70 ppm triggers alarm in 60-240 minutes, 150 ppm in 10-50 minutes, 400 ppm in 4-15 minutes. False alarm resistance: no alarm at 30 ppm for 30 days or 70 ppm for 60 minutes.
Is this detector UL and ULC listed?
Yes. Listed under UL521, UL2075, ULC-s530, and CSFM. CO alarm sensitivity evaluated to the limits of UL 2034.
