The Kidde Intelligent Optica KIR-OSD brings advanced photoelectric smoke detection to commercial fire alarm systems running Kidde Intelligent SLC loops. Rotary addressing keeps commissioning simple and field-serviceable - set the address with a screwdriver, no laptop or programming tool needed. Automatic environmental compensation keeps sensitivity thresholds accurate as the chamber ages, reducing nuisance alarms and service calls over the life of the detector.
Built for the fire alarm installer
The Optica series is Kidde's current-generation intelligent detector platform, listed to UL 268-7, UL 268A, CAN/ULC-S529, and CSFM. SLC loop powered at 15.20-19.95 VDC with a standby current of just 43 µA, so it won't tax existing loop power budgets. Mounts on any standard Kidde Intelligent detector base - standard, relay, isolator, or sounder - with a twist-lock connection consistent across the Optica and legacy Intelligent lines. High-impact engineering polymer construction in white matches the rest of the Kidde detector family.
Key features
- Advanced photoelectric sensing: optimized chamber design reduces nuisance alarms while maintaining reliable response to visible-particle smoke
- Rotary addressing: field-set address with a screwdriver, no software or laptop required
- Automatic drift compensation: self-adjusting sensitivity keeps the detector accurate over its service life without manual recalibration
- CleanMe LED indicator: visible maintenance alert when the chamber needs cleaning, cutting unnecessary truck rolls
- 360° visible LEDs: twin indicators visible from any direction for walk-test and status verification
- Flexible base options: standard, relay, isolator, and sounder bases support a wide range of installation requirements
System requirements
Connects to any Kidde Intelligent fire alarm control panel via two-wire SLC loop. Requires a compatible Kidde Intelligent detector base (sold separately). Bases accept #18 AWG to #12 AWG wire with a maximum resistance of 10 ohms per wire. Compatible detector testers: Testifire 1000 and Testifire 2000.
