The Kidde FX-ISO protects Class A SLC loops from total collapse when a wire-to-wire short hits the circuit. Instead of losing the entire loop, the module isolates the fault between the two nearest isolator modules, keeping every device outside that segment online and reporting. Rotary-addressed and compatible with all Kidde FX Series intelligent fire alarm control panels.

Built for the fire alarm installer

Drop the FX-ISO into any standard 4-inch square electrical box on the SLC loop. One device address per module, set via the familiar rotary switches on the front. The module monitors line voltages continuously and opens the SLC automatically when a short is detected - no panel programming needed to enable isolation. Ground fault detection pinpoints wiring problems down to the specific module location, cutting troubleshooting time on Class A (Style 7) circuits.

How many isolator modules do I need on a Class A loop?
Place one isolator module between each group of devices you want to protect independently. If a short occurs, only the segment between the two nearest isolator modules is isolated. Consult NFPA 72 and local codes for minimum placement requirements.
Does the FX-ISO work with all Kidde FX Series panels?
Yes. The FX-ISO is compatible with all Kidde FX Series intelligent fire alarm control panels, including both 64-point and 1000-point panel configurations.
What happens when the module detects a short circuit?
The FX-ISO automatically opens the SLC to isolate the shorted segment. The bicolor LED switches from flashing green to flashing red. All devices outside the isolated segment continue operating normally on the loop.
What electrical box does the FX-ISO mount in?
Standard North American 4-inch square x 2-1/2 in. deep 2-gang box, or a standard 4 in. square box 1-1/2 in. deep.
Does this module require its own power supply?
No. The FX-ISO draws power directly from the SLC loop at 175 μA standby and 200 μA activated. No external power source needed.
