SKU:
KD-GCVWA-B

The Kidde Genesis GCVWA-B is a ceiling-mount strobe built for mass notification and emergency communication systems (ECS/MNS). Its blue lens and red ALERT marking provide clear visual separation from fire alarm signals, making it the right pick for facilities that need independent alerting tiers on the same notification infrastructure.

Built for the commercial installer

Genesis ceiling strobes mount flush to any standard North American 4" square electrical box (2-1/8" deep) with no extension ring or trim plate required. The low-profile housing protrudes just 1.6" from the ceiling and hides all mounting screws behind the cover. Field wiring terminals accept #18 to #12 AWG, so you can reuse existing runs without re-pulling.

Candela output is field-selectable via a switch accessible by unlatching the cover - no need to remove the device from the ceiling. The patented FullLight strobe cavity produces smooth, even light distribution that meets UL 1638 and ULC S526 requirements across the entire room, not just at the reference point.

Key features

  • Field-selectable candela output: switch between multiple output settings without removing the device from the ceiling
  • FullLight strobe technology: patented cavity design delivers smooth, even light distribution across the coverage area
  • Blue lens with ALERT marking: visually distinguishes mass notification signals from fire alarm signals in dual-use facilities
  • Low-profile ceiling mount: protrudes only 1.6" from the ceiling, blends with any commercial interior
  • Synchronization ready: syncs with other Genesis devices using a Genesis Signal Master or compatible control module
  • UL 1638-listed: approved as a protective visual signaling appliance for ECS/MNS applications

System requirements

Operates on 16 to 33 Vdc or 16 to 33 Vfwr from a listed notification appliance circuit. Synchronization requires a compatible signal module (SIGA-CC1S, SIGA-MCC1S, SIGA-CC2A, SIGA-MCC2A, or G1M-RM) or a compatible Kidde power supply or control panel.

Does this strobe work for mass notification separate from fire alarm?
Yes. The blue lens and ALERT marking visually differentiate ECS/MNS signals from fire alarm signals. UL 1638-listed as a protective visual signaling appliance for mass notification applications.
What electrical box does this mount to?
Standard North American 4" square electrical box, 2-1/8" (54 mm) deep. No extension ring or trim plate required. All mounting screws are concealed behind the cover.
Can I change the candela output after installation?
Yes. The candela switch is accessible by unlatching and twisting the cover open. The device does not need to be removed from the ceiling or disconnected.
Does this strobe synchronize with other Genesis devices?
Yes. Meets UL synchronization requirements when used with a Genesis Signal Master (G1M-RM) or compatible Kidde signal module, power supply, or control panel.
What wire gauge does this accept?
#18 to #12 AWG (0.75 to 2.5 mm²). The range supports long notification appliance circuit runs and existing wiring without re-pulling.
Can I mix this with LED Genesis (EGC Series) strobes on the same circuit?
This is a Xenon-type Genesis strobe. Consult the spec sheet and your Kidde representative for circuit loading and mixing guidelines between Genesis and Genesis LED EGC Series devices.
