The KI-HCD covers both fire and carbon monoxide in a single addressable head, analyzing its heat and CO sensors independently so it can raise a fire alarm, a life-safety CO alarm, or both, exactly as the readings warrant. That's one detector and one SLC address doing the job of two separate devices on jobs where CO monitoring is mandated alongside fire detection.
Built for the commercial fire installer
Rate-of-rise (15ưF/min) and 135ưF fixed-temperature heat sensing catches both fast-flaming and slow-building fires, while the CO sensor meets UL 2034 alarm thresholds (70 ppm/60-240 min, 150 ppm/10-50 min, 400 ppm/4-15 min). Continuous self-diagnostics and automatic environmental compensation cut nuisance alarms and maintenance callbacks over the life of the device. Drops into standard KI-series mounting bases, so retrofit jobs reuse existing wiring and box locations.
Key features
- Dual-hazard detection: independent heat and CO analysis from one addressable head
- Self-diagnostics with history log: maintenance data stored in non-volatile memory for NFPA 72 reporting
- Automatic environmental compensation reduces false alarms as the detector ages
- Drop-in base compatibility: standard (KI-SB), relay (KI-RB), isolator (KI-IB), and audible sounder (KI-ABDT/KI-ABLT) bases
- 10-year CO sensor life with automatic end-of-life trouble reporting at the panel
System requirements
Requires a Kidde intelligent fire alarm control panel and a KI-series detector base (sold separately). Mounts to standard 1-gang, 3-1/2" or 4" octagon, and 4" square electrical boxes 1-1/2" deep. Sounder base configurations require an FX-T3T4 Temporal Pattern Generator to separate CO and fire tone patterns.
