SKU:
KD-EWGAVRN

The Genesis WG4 outdoor horn-strobe handles wet, harsh, and extreme-temperature environments that would sideline lesser notification appliances. Rated from -40F to 151F and UL 1638-listed for outdoor use, it drops onto parking garage columns, exterior stairwells, and loading docks without requiring a separate weather enclosure.

Built for the commercial fire installer

Wall or ceiling mount in four orientations gives you layout flexibility on the job. Room-side wiring accepts 18 to 12 AWG, so there's no fighting to land conductors in the field. Four field-selectable candela settings (15/29/70/87 cd indoor) are changed with a slide switch without removing the device from the wall, and the current setting stays visible through a sealed viewport on the front cover.

Key features

  • Field-selectable strobe output: four candela settings (15/29/70/87 cd indoor; 6/12/28/35 cd outdoor per UL 1638) changed via slide switch on the front
  • UL 1971 and UL 1638 listed for indoor public-mode and outdoor notification applications
  • Configurable horn pattern: temporal three-pulse (factory default) or steady for coded systems via jumper
  • High and low dB horn settings: up to 97 dBA (UL 464), with a low-dB jumper that reduces output roughly 5 dB
  • Genesis synchronization compatible: works with Signal Master, GSA-CC1S, SIGA-CC2A, and Kidde VS/VM/FX panels with built-in sync
  • Optional trim skirt and sealing gasket for a clean finished look on surface-mount boxes

System requirements

Operates on 24 VDC or 24 VFWR notification circuits. For outdoor and wet locations, mount to a Model 449 or 74347U surface box. Indoor dry locations accept a standard 4-inch square by 1-1/2-inch deep box. A Genesis synchronization source is required when the device is configured for coded or synchronized operation.

What candela settings are available on the WG4 outdoor horn-strobe?
Four field-selectable positions via slide switch: 15, 29, 70, and 87 cd (UL 1971 indoor). Outdoor per UL 1638 at -35°C: 6, 12, 28, and 35 cd. Current setting visible through a sealed viewport on the cover.
Can this horn-strobe be used outdoors and in wet locations?
Yes. UL 1638-listed for outdoor applications and rated from -40°F to 151°F. Mount to a Model 449 or 74347U surface box for outdoor and wet locations. An optional full backplane sealing gasket provides additional weather protection.
Does this work with coded fire alarm systems?
Yes. Cut jumper JP1 on the circuit board to switch from temporal three-pulse (factory default) to steady output for coded systems. A Genesis synchronization source (e.g. Signal Master) is required when configured for coded operation.
What sync sources and panels are compatible?
Genesis Signal Master (EG1M-RM), auto-sync output modules (GSA-CC1S, SIGA-CC2A, GSA-MCC1S, GSA-MCC2A), booster/auxiliary power supplies (APS6A, APS10A), and Kidde VS, VM, and FX Series panels with built-in Genesis synchronization.
What electrical box does this mount to?
Outdoor/wet locations: Model 449 or 74347U surface box. Indoor dry locations: standard 4-inch square by 1-1/2-inch deep box. When using the optional trim skirt, a 449 or 4-inch square by 2-1/8-inch deep box is required.
