SKU:
KD-G4VWN-R

The Kidde Genesis LED G4VWN-R is a wall-mount mass notification strobe designed for commercial emergency communication systems. The red lens delivers 15 cd of visible output at just 28 mA on DC circuits, keeping NAC budgets tight while providing clear visual notification during emergency events.

Built for the commercial installer

Genesis LED technology draws a fraction of the current of legacy Xenon strobes - that translates to longer wire runs, more devices per circuit, and fewer booster power supplies on the job. LED and Xenon strobes can be mixed on the same circuit and in the same field of view, so retrofits don't require a full rip-and-replace. The Genesis LED control protocol keeps all strobes synchronized to well within NFPA 72 requirements when used with a compatible synchronization source.

Key features

  • Ultra-low current draw (28 mA DC): supports more devices per NAC circuit with fewer booster power supplies
  • Backwards compatible with Xenon strobes: mix LED and legacy devices on the same circuit and in the same field of view
  • Universal mounting: fits standard 2-gang and 4-inch square electrical boxes with optional G4T trim plates for oversized openings
  • Room-side wiring plate (GRSW): pre-install and pre-wire, then snap the device into place with a built-in diagnostics check bar for continuity verification
  • Low-profile design: protrudes only 1.62" from the mounting surface with no visible mounting screws
  • Field-swappable cover skins: change marking or color in the field without replacing the device

System requirements

Requires a GRSW room-side wiring plate (ordered separately as GRSW-10, pack of 10). Synchronization requires a compatible source: Kidde CC Series Signal Modules, Booster and Auxiliary Power Supplies, or Intelligent and Conventional Control Panels. Electrical boxes must be at least 1-1/2" deep. Recommended mounting height: 81" AFF (bottom of lens minimum 80" off finished floor).

Can Genesis LED strobes be mixed with existing Xenon strobes?
Yes. Genesis LED strobes are backwards compatible with legacy Xenon-type strobes. LED and Xenon devices can be mixed on the same NAC circuit and used in the same field of view, making them ideal for phased retrofits without a full rip-and-replace.
What mounting hardware is required?
GRSW room-side wiring plate (ordered separately as GRSW-10, pack of 10). Fits 2-gang or 4-inch square boxes, min 1-1/2" deep. G4T trim plates (G4TR red, G4TW white) cover oversized openings.
How does synchronization work?
Genesis LED protocol keeps strobes synchronized within 10 ms over two hours, exceeding UL requirements. Max 20 Ī© wire resistance between devices. Uses Kidde CC Signal Modules, Booster/Auxiliary Power Supplies, or Intelligent/Conventional Panels.
What's the current draw compared to Xenon strobes?
The G4VWN-R draws just 28 mA (DC) or 36 mA (VFWR) regardless of lens color. This is a fraction of legacy Xenon strobe draw, allowing longer circuit runs, more devices per circuit, and fewer booster power supplies.
What lens colors are available in the Genesis LED G4 Mass Notification series?
Four colors: amber (75 cd), green (65 cd), blue (30 cd), and red (15 cd). Cover skins with "ALERT" marking or no marking are available and can be swapped in the field without replacing the device.
